After my secondary education I took a bachelor degree in education in 1971 at the teacher trainings college Nutskweekschool (now Fontys University of applied sciences) in Eindhoven. After my compulsory military service I took my master degree in education at Utrecht University in 1979. In 1980 I was appointed as head of the educational staff office of the national apprenticesystem for the retail business. From 1982 till 1989 I was senior lecturer at the community health care department at the School of Nursing at the University of applied sciences Utrecht. During this period I was also member of the general committee of the general teachers union AOB. In 1989 I was appointed as vice dean of the School of Social Sciences at the University of applied sciences Utrecht. Through 1993/1994 I took a management course at the centre for business studies De Baak. In 1995 I was appointed as executive vice president of ROC Oost Nederland (a large community college in the eastern part of The Netherlands). Since September 2004 I am an independant management consultant.  I have been  non executive member of the board of several not for profit and profit organisations. During 2005/2006 and 2009/2010 I took courses in Governance studies at the Governance University. Till 2018 I have been chairman of the board at the Lokaal Fonds Hengelo a community foundation in my home town Hengelo and an Association of endowment funds in Twente. Since 2018 I'm advisor/treasurer  of the Twentse Noabers Coöperatief UA. This cooperative aims to unite, strengthen and support citizens initiatives in. Beside the boardmembership of the cooperative I'm also chairman of the Twentse Noabers Fonds. This Community Foundation has been founded (among others) by the Twentse Noabers Coöperatie and supports citizens initiatives with knowledge and if needed by grants.

I'm  73 years old, live in Hengelo (Ov) The Netherlands, I'm married and have three children. Besides my social activities I am interested in geology and snow crystals. I also like gardening. When I was thinking about this site I was inspirered by a beautiful photobook Snowflakes (Voyageur press 2008) and a marvelous site about snowcrystals made by the Caltech physicist Dr. Kenneth Libbrecht snowcrystals.com.

In my management career I have been mainly occupied with strategic policy developement concerning finances, ICT, real estate, labour relations and commercialization of non profit activities. To carry through a reorganization after several mergers was an important part of my job as executive vice president of ROC Oost Nederland (a large community college in the eastern part of The Netherlands) and as vice dean of the School of Social Sciences at Hogeschool Utrecht (a professional university in the city of Utrecht)
